About Pop Art Paintings
Pop art is an art movement that emerged in Britain and the United States during the mid- to late-1950s. One of its aims is to use images of popular culture in art, emphasizing the banal or kitschy elements of any culture, most often through the use of irony. In pop art, material is sometimes visually removed from its known context. Pop art often takes imagery that is currently in use in advertising. The basic idea behind Pop-art was to create a form of art depicting instant meaning. This was quite different from the super-intellectualism. To achieve their goal of instant meaning, painting artists experimented with new commercial processes, like acrylic painting. The imagery and color schemes for most Pop-art painting was taken from high-profile and easily recognizable consumerist or media sources.
